Can surgery make a period irregular?

I had tonsillectomy yesterday morning and my period came yesterday when i got home. It wasn't late nor early, pretty much on time (it always come on at the end of the month). The problem is that it's pretty light, can that be cause of the meds? Also I cramped all last week and had sore breast like always.
