Is this amp too much for the sub?

The amp will happily break the sub, if that's what you mean. Keep the volume down and the amp will not have to work hard, even with the sub at it's loudest before distortion, which will make the amp last longer. You will have to keep the amp at 50% volume max though, and obviously warm the sub up slowly when it's new, as always with speakers!
